(Shelley Van Hoof) We are happy to announce that the winner of the 2019 Deputy Minister and Chief of the Defence Staff Holiday Card contest is… bagpipes please.

(Capt Fraser Clark) 11 year-old Isabelle Lacasse! Congratulations to Isabelle whose mother is a member of the Defence Team at CFB Suffield. The DM and CDS hand-picked your design to use for this years’ Defence Holiday Card.

(F)Bravo Zulu to Defence’s very own Deputy Minister, Jody Thomas, and Deputy Vice Chief of the Defence Staff Major-General Frances Allen for being recognized as two of Canada’s 100 Most Powerful Women.

(S) The awards, presented by the Women’s Executive Network, honour high-achieving leaders in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors.

(F) Over the course of their trailblazing careers, Deputy Minister Thomas and Major-General Allen have advocated for change and empowered others through their actions, accomplishments, leadership, and service.

(F)Canadian Armed Forces medical and dental personnel provided humanitarian aid throughout Central America, South America, and the Caribbean as part of operation GLOBE.

(S) From June 15 to November 17, alongside members of the United States Navy, CAF members in these fields administered medical, surgical, dental, and optometry services to those in need.

(F) Operation GLOBE is Canada’s contribution to the U.S-led Operation ENDURING PROMISE, strengthening the partnership between the two countries while providing aid to regional nations through collaborative humanitarian work.
