4 Wing contributes to fight against Daesh

In September 2014, a global coalition was formed to fight Daesh, a terrorist organization which advocates radical interpretations of Islam. The stated goal of Daesh is to create a world-wide Islamic caliphate, and it has pursued that goal through extreme violence, particularly in Iraq and Syria.

Under Operation Impact, 4 Wing Cold Lake, Alberta, is contributing to the coalition. Thirty-eight wing members with construction engineering, imagery, maintenance, logistics, transport, administration, intelligence, communications, and command and control skills and competencies are currently deployed on Operation Impact.
