Transcript

I’m here today with the awesome members of the Women’s Defence Advisory Organization and they invited me to come and speak about my career and some lessons I’ve maybe picked up in my very long working life.

We did this as a lead-up to International Women’s Day. International Women’s Day matters, but I emphasize all the time that it’s not about one day of the year, it’s about every day of the year.

And what women bring to the Department of National Defence, the Canadian Armed Forces, our country, our society, our culture and who we are. Diversity matters.

Women bring qualities and expertise and excellence to the Canadian Armed Forces in the Department of National Defence.

And I’m really proud to be the Deputy Minister of Defence and have conversations like this on International Women’s Day, but every day of the year. So, thank you.
