Does that base look familiar? It’s made from a drop down panel from a former Canadian Armed Forces vehicle. Photo: Submitted

On Sunday, October 28, Deputy Minister of Veterans Affairs Canada, General (retired) Walter Natynczyk, unveiled a new Highway of Heroes Adoption Memorial during the Nations Heroes Hockey Night in Kingston.

The memorial was built using various materials, including a drop down panel from a heavy logistic vehicle donated to the Portrait of Honours Foundation. The vehicle in question had participated in a number of missions, including one in Afghanistan, helping transport personnel, material and supplies.

The memorial will be on display at Highway of Heroes ceremonies and military events, and will be brought to the families of Canada’s fallen, where possible.

Congratulations and a big thank you to everyone involved.
