Hi.  It’s Canada’s Healthy Workplace Month.

I’m here to talk to you today about Defence having and being a healthy work place. In Strong, Secure and Engaged, we are committed to making sure the National Defence is a healthy work place for civilians and military alike and to ensure that people feel safe and supported when they come to work.

I’m here today with all women leadership team from the corporate secretariat and we talk about how to make our work place healthy and safe all the time. We look at programs to support men and women in physical health, their mental health and to ensure that people feel fulfilled and appreciate it when they come to work every day.

Feeling fulfilled is part of ensuring that you’re a healthy person, having an outlet if you’re feeling stressed, having an outlet if you’re feeling anxious is a really important work that we’re trying to do and ensure that you have those things. And we’re encouraging physical health. Take the time. Go for a walk, get some fresh air, do whatever it is that helps you relax and unwind so that you feel safe, supported and secure here at the Department of National Defence.

Enjoy healthy work place, take advantage of the programs and the opportunities and the learning that are out there to ensure that you help contribute to our work place. Thank you.
