17 Wing Winnipeg held their Wing Commanders Volleyball Tournament co-ed event in late April.

Camaraderie and socializing meant as much, if not even more, than the competition on the court. Teams were divided into two divisions, playing 25-minute games simultaneously on either side of the gymnasium. Winners in each division received t-shirts and towels.

“I think it’s a great team building event and a good way to decompress after a long winter,” said Lieutenant Mike Luczynski.

Brendan Innes, a civilian worker at the Regional Cadet Support Unit, agreed with Lt Luczynski. “It’s a great opportunity to meet and play with fellow employees,” he added. “Whether we’re civilian or military, we’re all members of the same family.”

David Chung, Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services (CFMWS) Fitness and Sports Instructor and a score keeper at the event, said the tournament was about having fun, team work and companionship. “It’s a day out of the office,” he said.
