Taking place from June 10-16, National Public Service Week 2018 (NPSW) is an opportunity to celebrate and recognize the contributions made by federal public service employees across Canada. Under the permanent theme, Proudly Serving Canadians, NPSW recognizes the hard work that goes into delivering a wide range of programs and services that support the work of the Government of Canada, and the needs of Canadians in their day-to-day lives.

At the Department of National Defence (DND), public servants have a unique role as they work to serve both the public, and the Canadian Armed Forces. Whether it is through supporting the priorities outlined in Strong, Secure, Engaged, developing next generation technology, or providing critical financial or human resources, civilians at National Defence play an important role in the successes of the men and women in uniform, not only overseas, but also at bases and wings across Canada.

Throughout NPSW, National Defence employees will be gathering in offices, bases, and wings across the country to take part in events and to recognize the successes of the Defence Team from the past year. Ranging from breakfasts, BBQs and sporting events, to the Celebrating Excellence Awards (internal link), and student engagement events, the week has something for everyone, and reflects the diversity of the Public Service of Canada, and the country itself.

DND employees are encouraged to post pictures of their team celebrations and events on social media using #NPSWDND2018.

Information about the different organized events, and pictures and videos of moments from the week will be available soon on the NPSW intranet page (internal link).
