The Canadian Forces (CF) Snowbirds, 431 Air Demonstration Squadron, carried out their spring training for the 2018 season out of 19 Wing Comox in April.
The CF Snowbirds are a Canadian icon comprised of Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members and National Defence Public Service employees.
Pilots, technicians, mobile support operators, resource management support clerks, an engineering officer, a logistics officer, and a public affairs officer representing all three elements – Army, Navy and Air Force – work as a team to bring thrilling performances to the Canadian public.
Serving as ambassadors of the CAF, the CF Snowbirds demonstrate the high level of skill, professionalism, teamwork, discipline, and dedication inherent in the men and women of the CAF. They inspire the pursuit of excellence wherever they go in North America.
The Snowbirds honed their aerobatic skills during spring training. They put the finishing touches on their high and low shows for the North American public.
They flew practices twice daily, weather permitting, in the early morning and early afternoon over 19 Wing and the Strait of Georgia.
“Flying in the Comox Valley, B.C. provides the team with an ideal opportunity to practice flying the show over water and diverse terrain, so we are prepared to perform across North America,” explains Major Denis Bandet, Snowbirds Team Lead.
