Deputy Commander of NORAD visits CFS Leitrim

On 11 April 2018, the Deputy Commander of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), Lieutenant-General Pierre St-Amand visited the Canadian Forces Information Operations Group (CFIOG), including CFS Leitrim.

LGen St-Amand had an opportunity to tour CFS Leitrim and speak with personnel to get a better understanding of the work they do. He expressed his appreciation for the long-standing relationship between NORAD and CFS Leitrim’s Operational, Technical and Support Elements in the defence of North America.

LGen St-Amand then presented the unit with a plaque which reads: “For outstanding operational support critical to the NORAD mission and unwavering dedication to perimeter security”.

In addition to recognizing CFS Leitrim, LGen St-Amand presented his coin to both Corporal David Simmerson and Corporal Alexandre Forget as a token of thanks for their exceptional work. Cpl Simmerson and Cpl Forget were recognized for their professionalism and their efforts that increased capabilities of the unit to support NORAD.
