Recruiters wanted for the CAF

Military members interested in working in recruitment now have the opportunity to apply for a number of positions within the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF).

The Canadian Forces Recruiting Group (CFRG) is seeking candidates for the following roles:

  • Recruiter
  • Military Career Counsellor
  • File Manager
  • Command and Control positions

These opportunities are open to members of the Regular Force and the Primary Reserve, from all three CAF environments and occupations.

The CAF is competing for human resource talent in today’s highly competitive job market. To meet this challenge, it must continuously attract and recruit qualified new applicants for full-time and part-time military service. CFRG is now seeking highly motivated CAF members to work in recruitment to help accomplish this goal.

This initiative flows from Canada’s defence policy, Strong, Secure, Engaged (SSE), which Defence Minister Harjit S. Sajjan unveiled last June. SSE outlines a forward-looking vision for the CAF, to reflect the diversity of the country it defends.

SSE provides clear direction on recruitment and requires the CAF to modernize and improve its recruiting methods and experience. One of the objectives is to attract diverse groups such as women, visible minorities, and indigenous people to the CAF, as well as to meet established employment equity goals. CFRG also intends to increase the number of diverse groups in recruiting roles.

Recruiters should demonstrate professional excellence and have a passion for this critical task. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to interact with local communities, and the satisfaction of contributing to the growth of the CAF. CAF members interested in working in recruiting should advise their chain of command and career manager, and indicate their desired position(s) in the Employee Member Access Application (EMAA).

Serving as a member of a recruiting team will provide a CAF member with a broad range of posting locations. Working in the recruiting environment will also provide career advancement opportunities. Selection boards will award equivalent points for a recruiting tour as are allocated to operational deployments, for personnel below the rank of Colonel.
