60 Seconds with MGen Nicolas Eldaoud
Major-General Nicolas Eldaoud, Chief of Staff Strategic, Military Personnel Command
How do your employees make your job easier? What kind of question is that? They don’t. That’s my job. I’m a leader, I’m here to make their job easier.
Hi, I’m Major-General Nicolas Eldaoud and I’m here to take the 60 Second challenge.
Okay, let’s start.
- What is the Journey?
The Journey is the path we’ve chosen to take to make life better for our serving members, their families and our vets because they’ve decided to serve their country.
- When can we expect to see results from the Journey?
Well actually results are now. You just saw the de-linking between promotion and medical. Right now we’re talking about tax relief when you’re going on a mission. That’s cool. And in the next few months and years you’ll see a lot more initiatives coming down to make your life easier as you serve this great country of ours.
- Which are the three words that describe you?
Strong. Secure. Engaged.
- What was your first job?
Platoon Commander. And that’s when I learned, for the first time in my life, how important it is to work with people.
- Your job title is COS Strat, what does it mean?
COS Strat means Chief of Staff Strategic, but that’s not important. What’s important is that the institution has put a General Officer and a team that all we do day and night is to think about how to make your life better and thank you again for your service.
- How will the Journey effect CAF members?
First of all, it will focus on the people here serving now so that they stay longer doing the great job that they’re doing because we don’t always enable this. And also it will attract new people to join our team and stay longer also.
