In this episode, we highlight:
- Operation REASSURANCE; and
- Junior Ranger Nova Gull
(S) Welcome back to Defence Team News, I’m Shelley Van Hoof.
(J) And I’m Lt(N) Jamie Bresolin. Here are the headlines at Defence.
Canada’s Air Task Force in Romania completed its four-month mission in support of Operation REASSURANCE, with additional contributions to NATO’s enhanced Air Policing.
The Task Force conducted regular training with Romanian hosts, including: medical support, flight safety, aircraft maintenance, command and control, and military policing. The Task Force also conducted several activities in support of local communities, including delivering donations to an orphanage.
Canada’s CF-18 Hornet crews trained alongside Romanian Air Force MiG-21s, F-16s, Puma helicopters, Portuguese F-16s, US Army Blackhawk helicopters, and NATO airborne warning and control systems. The CF-18 crews also trained with French and Romanian vessels in the Black Sea.
(S) Bravo Zulu to Junior Ranger Nova Gull who recently received a James Bartleman Indigenous Youth Creative Writing Award at a ceremony in Toronto.
Her poem ‘Where’s Our Voice?’ highlights and draws awareness to the lack of attention towards Indigenous issues.
Ontario Lieutenant-Governor Elizabeth Dowdeswell presented Nova with the award at a ceremony attended by her father, Matthew Gull, who commands the Ranger patrol in Peawanuck, Ontario, along with other family members.
(J) That’s it for us. Thank you so much for watching. See you next time…
